Phage hunters

Phage hunters

Phage Hunter is one of our flagship projects. It is aimed at excellent high school students who are interested in participating in academic scientific work.

As part of the project, students participate in efforts to expand the Israeli phage bank. We create a “bacterial hit list” of target strains and challenge participants to find phages that can eliminate them.

During the project, students are introduced to advanced methods of microbiology, microscopy, and even genome sequencing.

The project is currently taking place at Or Branko Weiss High School in Tzur Hadassah and will later be expanded to other high schools.
